Forum Competition #84 Modern life
Forum Competition #84 Modern life
Hi Folks,
Been trying to think of something a bit different for a subject.
In the end I came up with "Modern Life". By this I mean an aspect of everyone's lives today - new technology, the rushed pace of modern life, fast food, modern environments........etc etc
Deadline for entries is midnight 15th March. Good luck to all.

Re: Forum Competition #84 Modern life
My shot was taken at a live BBC recording of an episode of the Hairy Bikers series "Mum Knows Best", the manic pace of the action displays the pace of modern day life.

Re: Forum Competition #84 Modern life
This is my entry, due to modern life the way it is, I haven't even had chance to look through my archive for something that fits the subject, let alone get out and take something specifically for it. Oh, I missed the deadline as well.

Many thanks for entering.

I like the feeling of bustle and business in this one. The building is lit well, plenty of detail and lots going on. I think I would have liked to have seen some of the figures blurred in motion to add some dymamism.
yatchsman - Mum knows best
This is a nice shot of the 2 main presenters of the show. It does look busy and hectic, the crowd, the cameraman doing his job, which I feel is an important element. To isolate and give greater importance to the presenters, maybe some blur on the crowd, or some desaturation of the crowd would help.

I like the cool blues and the hot pinks, reminds me somewhat of Hockney's Californian images. It's a shame the sky wasn't playing when you took these, but then you can do nothing about the weather. the composition hangs together well too.
John - modern life
Well yes we have very technological items in our living rooms now; tv's, computers, etc. I like the idea of the tv blaring away in the corner and not being watched anymore these days, has it had it's day in the present form?
Keasla - computer innards
I really like the colours and the shapes of the internal guts of the machine, this was the kind of image I envisaged when I set this topic. However, I am at a bit of a loss to understand why half the image is black nothingness. I feel if the workings are the interest then they should take up more of the frame.
bazzasmeg - Global Rainbow
Didn't get a chance myself to see this "live" as it where, but a good image. Yes this is modern art - beamed out to a wider audience. I like the reflection in the water and the hint of the surrounds.
Philip - Black Friday
Well I like your comments!
Quite a small pool of images then, but I think the winner should be......
bazzasmeg with Global Rainbow... however if keasla had used the frame more effectively I would have chosen that image.
Over to you Bazzasmeg to set and judge the next comp.
