Forum Competition #91 - From your front door!
Hi All
Thanks again to Tracey for choosing my photo as number one in the last comp and now here is my theme for the next one!
It is to take a photo from your front door or garden - it can be of a flower in your garden, your street, an abstract of your car - anything you can see from your front door or garden. Sometimes we can miss what is on our own doorstep. I'm happy to see any editing that makes your photo stand out from the rest or just a straight forward good shot!
Good luck everyone and I hope it is a broad enough theme to attract lots of photos
The closing date is midnight on Sunday, 29 July.
Ann

Re: Forum Competition #91 - From your front door!
Fortunately our apartment is surrounded by great gardens, making a choice was the hard part. This one took some patience to get.

In the middle of the night, United Utilities sprang intom action to stem a major leak just over the road. This is indeed from our front door. Pentax K-5, SMC Pentax-FA 77mm f1.8 Limited lens.

Hi
Here is my entry - I've titled it "Small Purple Flowers". Does anyone know the real name for these flowers?
Best Wishes

Re: Forum Competition #91 - From your front door!
Hi all,
Thanks for all the entries and now come the hardest part for me, as I've never done it before
Yachtsman1 - I like this as it fills the frame and has the added detail of the bee - the depth of field seems good with the flower, bud and dying flower all in focus but the green background diffused. I might only try to deepen the colour a little!
John - this is a different and unexpected image from your front door, the girl seems oblivious to the photo being taken but the workman has spotted you or is watching the girl lol! The scene is recorded well and the only change I might have made is to crop out the building on the right hand side!
Myra - this is a colourful image and has a lot of interest - you have a lovely garden. I think some might say that the path is leading into the image with Des as the end treasure lol! I'm not sure of what I would to to change this at all!
Des - I like this image, the b/w processing suits it well, it reminds me of a possible still from a 60s b/w film. I wouldn't make any changes at all!
Janice - I like the way you have filled the image with the lion's head, he looks a bit angry! The only change I might have made would be to darken what little background there is to focus even more on the lion's head!
Keasla - you have some security on your front door lol - I like the captured detail of the lock against the cobwebs of the wooden door! There are not changes I can see that I would make!
Tracey - I like the colour of the flowers with the four flowers and buds in focus and the one background one diffused! It is a very pretty, simple and effective image, no changes I can see that I would make!
Barry - this is a nice image with the yellow and blue complimenting each other, I might have given it a portrait crop, taking out the top right hand corner flower out and the left hand side blank space!
Here are my results:
3rd place - Barry
2nd place - Tracey
1st place - Des
Well done to everyone!
Best wishes
Ann
