I Can't See The Woods For The Trees

I was in the Lakes this weekend so decided to hit Wastwater for a sunset, sleep in the car and then grab the sunrise. It's safe to say that even though it was a blistering hot day and the sun shone throughout it decided to sneak off unnoticed and all I left with was a sore back ( sleeping in the car is not recommended ) and a misty drive back to the caravan park.
Sore at not getting a workable shot the drive back was also used as a lookout for something to shoot just so i wouldnt go back empty handed. just about 20 mins from home I found this little spot and it saved the day/night. I would never have given the trees a second look had it not been for the initial failure

I don t really feel qualified, but I like both images and would be hard pressed to pick a favourite. I like the way that the pictures are composed without the trees looking like a jumble - mine always do - no matter where I stand. It is amazing what you spot as a potential shot when just passing, so very well done for picking this 2 out.

I'm not picking on you here Janice. Your comment probably typifies why we get so few comments in the images forum.

You don't need any qualifications at all to say whether a photograph grabs you or not.
And it's highly unlikely that you're going to cause any offence.
Most people would rather hear any feedback rather than none.
So, come on folks... get commenting!

As usual, Paul is right! I do know what I like - and I also realise that this could be a useful exercise as it makes me look more closely at an image and try to say why I like it!

Two excellent images of, in my opinion, a tricky subject matter. Whenever I try to take pictures of woods, they end up looking flat and lacking a focal point, I've never achieved the quality shown here in these two images. The colours, contrast and detail are super and you have somehow managed to capture the atmosphere of the place. I would be extremely proud if these were mine. I think I prefer the second image, purely for the composition and the lushness of the carpet of leaves on the ground, totally undisturbed and uncluttered with twigs and fallen leaves etc, it makes the image looks clean and somehow not real, but it obviously is. Good work.

Thanks guys, I think I came away with better shots than i would have probably got if the sun was playing ball!! Like paul says appreciate any feedback, good or bad
