St Helens Inter Club 2013

Post by keith richardson »

Hi everyone,
Well earlier tonight we hosted this years St Helens Inter club competition.
There were six clubs taking part, ADAPS, Leigh, Ormoskirk, St Helens, Warrington and Wigan PS.
There were three rounds and three trophies to fight for, and guests arrived from all six clubs to watch the proceedings as the judge David Butler took over.

After a long evening with lots to think about the final results were as follows....

Open Prints..
1st Wigan PS......136
2nd ADAPS .........124
2nd Leigh...........124
4th Ormskirk.......120
5th St Helens......119
6th Warrington ...115

Nature/record prints
1st Wigan .......72
2nd Leigh........68
3rd Warrington..67
4th St helens....66
4th Ormskirk....66
6th ADAPS ......63

Digital images
1st Wigan .......110
2nd ADAPS........90
3rd Ormskirk....89
3rd St Helens....89
5th Leigh........88
6th Warrington..81

So Wigan went home with all three trophies. We came away with two second places and the need to find some nature photographers. :D .
That's it now for the battles for this year, next external competition is 31st January against St Helens, followed by a very busy March.

Thanks to everyone who came along tonight and to everyone who let us use your images.

Regards,
Keith.

It was a great night, especially for Wigan! Well done to them.

But two second places is pretty good too, so well done ADAPS for that. Clearly we do need to work on nature though!

Thanks for all your effort in putting this together Keith!
Best regards

John

Hi Allan,

If you look at the competitions rules on the home page you can see a summary of the rules for all the competitions.
http://www.adaps.org.uk/Competition%20Rules%202013.pdf

There is currently an update required to our pages before the annuals because the L&CPU now allows the inclusion of zoo or wildlife park animals, but not domestic animals or pets. No cultivated plants are allowed still. It is not necessary to have the latin title of the subject, but the title should simply be the name of the main subject. And if you take it in a zoo, you are not allowed to title it as if you took it elsewhere. (If it says 'Lion in the Masai Mara ', then it has to have been taken there, not in chester zoo).
There should be no manipulation of the image with photoshop such as cloning or repositioning or compositioning.
It is okay to adjust the image with cropping, resizing , adjusting of levels, curves or bightness, doging and burning, and saturation or desaturation.

And no stuffed animals!

Hope that helps.
Keith.

Thanks Keith that's very useful. These judges must have their work cut out trying to spot any cloning I struggle myself to spot where I've cloned sometimes when going g back to look at pictures.

I love taking wildlife shots so will have to get cracking. I see Jared has posted some crackers on Facebook just recently :-)
