GIMP

Hi, I've been Googling free photo editors for PC. Reviewers seem to like GIMP.
Has anyone any knowledge? Is it OK for a beginner with a not so up to date computer? Is one able to adjust image size, pixels etc?

Apart from a brief look a few years back I haven't any in depth knowledge of GIMP, but it is well thought of and it's free. Your older computer should be fine with it.

Otherwise, Photoshop Elements is not too expensive and sometimes offers can be found.

I use serif photoplus. It's very cheap and does a lot of what PS does. Alternatively Serif have launched Affinity, which is about £40 and is rated very highly, potential serious PS competitor, and no monthly subscription. It's a download with a moneyback guarantee, so if your PC can't cope (unlikely) you can always get money back.

GimPhoto
Affinity Photo (was Serif photoPlus) which, apparently, is a Photoshop alternative, can be bought for less than £50

I've managed to download GIMP into my ancient computer. I will now be spending numerous hours watching You Tube videos on how to use it Thanks for the advice

To be honest, I found GIMP not as easy to use as Photoshop - but then I was new to Photo editing. As a piece of free software it seems to really do the job. I also have a disc somewhere for a free version of DxO - never used it but will bring it along one evening if you want to have a look at it. Believe it is quite easy and intuitive.
