#191 harbours
Any port in a storm, or in glorious weather for that matter.
To remind ourselves that it is supposed to be summer, let's get to the coast and have some pictures of harbours and boats.
I would be happy to see two or three images per photographer to share a few more images but that would be creating a new rule on the fly and might not get approval!!!!
Two weeks gives us a closing date of 21st August.

Re: #191 harbours
I have just type out comments on the photos and then accidentally deleted the lot
This might be a bit shorter.......
These are my thoughts on a great set of pictures. Please accept them in the spirit they are made, they aren't expert.
Tracey: fabulous sky which fits the title beautifully. The foreground is a bit dark. The boat at the front and the people on shore look like they should be in sunlight.
Joanne: I love your pictures. I can see what you were aiming for and I can imagine going for the same idea. Sky is great and leads the eye to the cranes and could be emphasised a bit with some processing. The docks are interesting but could be a bit larger. My suggestion would be to crop some of the bottom out to move the dock line to the third line and crop in the sides to the edge of the red structures on the left and corresponding on the right.
Stu: A lovely image with a nice feel. The sky is great but I don't like the mud at the bottom. I assume it was windy because there is a fine wave pattern on the water giving a nice texture. I like the bright spots of float scattered around.
Mel: this has a fabulous muted colour palette that suits the subject very well. The image is stunning and pin sharp with interesting detail. I am not a fan of the very heavy treatment on the sky.
Janice: A great image which would sit very well in a holiday brochure. It is vibrant and busy and feels very Italian. It would be lovely to sit and watch the harbour with a Limoncello. Can I suggest cropping the left side to the edge of the brown building.
John: A very strong image that fits the brief perfectly. The composition works very well for me. I love the interesting boats and reflections. Is that Phil in the background with his camera???
Andy: This is a great use of colour and I would love to be able to do that. Did you have to bribe someone to stack the kayaks in the right order?? Not quite a harbour in my mind.
Phil: This is an interesting harbour and it is a different take on the same scene. I hate it when judges suggest that I should have stood somewhere else and you would probably get your feet wet but I would like to see this from further round so that all the action doesn't go over to the left.
Thanks for submitting such good images. I have enjoyed trying to analyse them and hope you can tolerate my clumsy criticisms.
Decision time:
All of the images have strengths which could justify a win but I'm going to go with the image that I like, even though it isn't technically the strongest but I think it shows great potential ---
Joanne - well done and over to you

Well, wasn't expecting that with all the other lovely images.
Thankyou Gordon. I'd better get my thinking cap on.
