#239 Any line from your favourite song
Thanks John, some really good interpretations of your subject. I thought we’d go for something musical this time, and the subject is “any line from your favourite song” – we’ve had song titles before, but this time it’s going to be your interpretation of a line inside your favourite song – so get your thinking caps on, and the closing date will be Sunday 5 July at the new time of 10pm, and the results will be posted within a few minutes of that time.

Re: #239 Any line from your favourite song
As for Christopher Robin he had to endure this being a huge hit whilst he was at boarding school. I can leave the rest of that thought to your imaginations and it must have been truly horrible. It can be read about in Christpher Milne's autobiography "The Enchanted Places".
Image constructed by me.
Camera: Pentax MX-1
Christopher Robin played by Finn Alexander Ryder
PS I don't have a favourite song, there are too many!
Best regards

Re: #239 Any line from your favourite song
Thanks for some really good entries for this competition.
Darren: “Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans” from Beautiful Boy by John Lennon. Well, you‘ve certainly captured a beautiful boy here – blue eyes and a smile to melt your heart – and definitely a family resemblance! Great family photo, with everyone looking straight into the lens. Be careful with the white balance – looks like this has been taken in tungsten lighting, giving a slight yellowish-tinge to the skin tones.
Mike: Great photo shot at an interesting angle. This is obviously a helium balloon, and I had a ride in one of these in Bournemouth, to get spectacular views across the landscape. However, such balloons are normally tethered, and given the fact that there is no pilot/passengers in the balloon, I guess you have removed the tether rope in Photoshop – thus giving a superb interpretation of the line “up up and away in my beautiful balloon”. Nice exposure and tones in this image.
Graham: “In the misty morning fog, with our hearts a thumping” from Brown Eyed Girl. I love the atmospheric feel of this photo, with the ground-hugging mist and the sun forcing its way through the clouds to add drama to the scene. A little burn out from the sun, but even if you had dialled in some negative exposure compensation, you wouldn’t have been able to eliminate all the burn out – it’s something you have to live with – unless you are skilled in Photoshop…...
John: “Hush, hush, whisper who dares, Christopher Robin is saying his prayers…” This is a great overlay of manuscript on the little boy (your Grandson, I take it?), and then an overlay of the record label that it came from. I’m not sure what the yellow stripes are on the record label on to the boy’s shoulder – unless it’s from his T-shirt, in which case because they are luminescent, it gives the appearance of an extra layer to me. A well-composed image, and a competition judge might comment that there is a loss of detail in blacks in the bottom right hand corner, but it doesn’t detract from the image in any way, in my opinion.
Sue: “Until that day you know you are queen of my heart” , from Queen of My Heart by Westlife. A very pretty little lady – a Princess and Queen in waiting! Really nice natural shot of the little girl, with a natural pose. The colour balance is good and natural in this image, but I think that lifting the shadows a little, especially around the face would improve it, and maybe cloning out the ropes, which don’t seem to have a purpose with the little girl.
Ken: “Show me the way to go home, I’m tired and I want to go to bed”, a good old singalong music hall song. This line has been well interpreted by your image Ken. I like the lead in line of the jetty leading to the distant building, and you’ve managed to get the image sharp from front to back. Just watch the horizons in seascapes, to make sure that they are level.
So, here’s the results:
3rd place goes to Graham, for his misty morning fog scene
2nd place goes to Ken, for his great interpretation of the song
And the winner is Mike, for his great balloon photo. Well done Mike, and over to you to choose the subject for our next Forum Competition.

Thanks Mel and thanks Big John.
As usual you are spot on Mel because it is the balloon in Bournemouth. Is there anywhere you haven't been to?
Now if I can only think of a subject. What about ........ ?
