just wanted to let you know that not so long ago the Urbis did an exhibition called Reality Hack - hidden manchester by manchester photographer Andrew Brooks http://www.urbis.org.uk/page.asp?id=3282
They also did a tour with it in June, a 4 hour walk around manchester going behind the scenes starting off at the old rail station behind the science and industry museaum and ending up at manchester cathedral. they are doing another one on 31st july. i originally tried to book on in june but the numbers were limited so they took my email address and told me about this next one
so if you fancy it give the urbis a tinkle there is a very nice man called John fitzgerald that helped me
Failing that, we could make our own Hidden Manchester. I have been walking round Manchester finding all the out of the way places to photograph. Around the Castlefields area and along the Rochdale canal. A pub lunch could be taken if needed. If we went on a Saturday it may be easier to get there on public transport. Only a thought.
We did talk with one of the people on reception about the tours and they said that they were not being done on a regular basis, but we could put our names down on a list in case they had another tour. Perhaps if someone contacts the person mentioned in the first message they will arrange a special tour for the club. That would be so interesting.
Of course there is always the Williamson's Tunnels in Liverpool as well. But they may not have as many photographic opportunities.
Going off at a slight tangent, there is a place in Stockport, in the center, that is open to the public, although I've never been in that allows you access to underground Stockport. I will make some enquiries and report back. Alan.
