Hi Lee,
Philip Howe originally put his name down too, see earlier postings in the thread.
Thank You Lee for arranging another session for us, I'm sure we will enjoy it and find it as productive as the last shoot !!

The map makes more sense when viewed in 'Satellite view' (icon located top right of map). The map seems to default to 'Map view' and I seem unable to change it

Re: Studio shoot 2
I had a drive out there yesterday and think I found the way in, but couldn't find the place, I take it there is no sign outside.
I went into the turning oposite Coronation Street, and then under the sign that says indoor karting. At the end, on the right, there are some small units behind a blue gate, I take it it's one of those, is that correct?

Re: Studio shoot 2
Phillip you are correct. As you go through the blue gate turn left, once turned the studio is the 2nd unit on the right. There are no signs advertising the place (Sign of the times(no pun intended) unfortunatlely, for security reasons)
The time you are going it will probably be the only one with a shutter open. Plus Lee's Galaxy will be parked somewhere near.

A big thank you to Lee for arranging another good night at the studio, with two great models, Karen and Shayla.
I'm sure we all managed to make some good images, let's see them being used for competitions this season.

Re: Studio shoot 2
And from me, thanks.
I need to work on poses for next time.
I worked out that 'Just move your arms, or maybe don't' is not a real direction.

Re: Studio shoot 2
I know what you mean - that's the bit I find quite difficult and I guess it just comes from practice/building confidence and knowing what you are trying to achieve from the outset (with tear sheets as examples).
Some of the models we have used have led quite a bit, striking different poses between shots and I find that really helpful. I don't know what the "norm" is, should they do that or be directed from the photographer. Certainly the models at Focus do that - is that because the models are experienced?
I had the model raising her hands to the side of her head and, quite frankly, the photos look ridiculous!!
I guess some of the more experienced photographers who have worked with models can share their tips - Paul?!

Re: Studio shoot 2
Hi everyone
My advice for posing tips is to look at images that are all around you in advertising, web etc. if you are struggling to direct a model into certain poses show them by doing it yourself you may think you look stupid but if you get the desired image then so what.
Sometimes its helpfull if you print images/ poses that you wish to try but remember to keep a file of images with you as certain poses don't suit certain shapes etc so if one doesn't work try another. These prints/cutouts can be used to show the model so she knows what you are after. I tend to have a theme or idea before any shoot and usually this dictates certain poses that i want but i still tweak as i go. Take your time its quite difficult in a group session because you know other people are waiting to have a go, usually i on;y take about 10 images then let someone else have a go but if its a one to one you can take your time get the pose, lights etc right first then take the image.
In directing a model, most models will have a set pose routine that they can follow so life easier for the photographer but there is nothing wrong with asking them to move this arm that leg tilt your head look at me look away from me etc as sometimes these little changes can effect the final image at the final stage. This confidence is built up over time and even if you aren't asking them to pose keep talking to them after all they are a person and the more you know each other the better the images because you both relax and then the ideas start flowing.
