Pingtest

Post by John »

We've mentioned in the past www.speedtest.net which will show you your connection speeds. Here's a similar service for line quality, this time from the sister site www.pingtest.net

This is apparently an excellent result. I did this test because we've rejigged our telephone connections a bit to try and improve overall reliablity and stability.
Best regards

My results are very similar to yours but then we switched to virgin just before Xmas.
Whilst the installation was far from problem free (and the staff in the sales office are less then useless) now that we have it working properly I am very pleased with it.
We went from 2.2 Mbs (hardwired) to just under 8 (WiFi) which makes a big difference. The biggest nightmare is changing your email address which is often also used as a log-on.
Still working my way through the list.

and I know Virgin are so and so's at slowing things down when too many folk are useing the system.

Mind you back in summer BT said the speed for the line was only 1.3Mb so its ok at the moment.

Cookie, if that download speed is correct then you are flying compared to the rest of the country.

My first attempt came in at Grade F (96% packet loss)

I tried it again and got this which is a bit more acceptable!

Seems to be consistent now.
