Competition #67 Highs & lows

Post by bazzasmeg »

Highs and lows

For the competition this month I have chosen a high or low perspective. Try getting up high and shooting things below you or try get down low and shoot up high. The competition is open until midnight on March 10th. Happy snapping !

Thanks for all the entries, now time to judge

Pauline, “Fake tilt shift effect for starters”
The effect and angle of view makes the motorway look like a model, the vehicles are frozen in time and the focus gets clearer the deeper you move into the photo.

IanUk50 “Market Place shopping centre”
A nice clear view down five floors and sharp throughout, you must have had to wait ages to get the escalators without anyone on them! Good lighting has helped to keep the image sharp

John “Reach For The Sky”
I like the angle of view, the flags are clear and the sky has retained the colour and no signs of it being blown out, a small amount of shadow in the bottom right, but this does not spoil the shot at all.

Tom “Looking Down On Paris”
The shot of Paris is almost like a painting, the telescope is clean and the position of this leads the eye to the Eiffel tower.

Steele “Trump Tower”
The angle of view leads you from the globe to the top of the tower and the way it converges shows the viewer the true size of the impressive building.

Gerryg “Manchester from the top of the eye”
The format and composition of the shot looks like an artists impression, there is good detail on both the ground and the buildings in the middle of the picture.

Bert “Sydney harbour & Opera house from the top of the harbour bridge”
An interesting picture with an unusual view of the Opera house from the bridge rather than the bridge from the Opera house. The boats show plenty of movement in the water and you have captured the flag in a perfect position.

Tracey “Looking down on balloons in Egypt at sunrise.”
Plenty of colour throughout this image, the balloons are well lit by the morning sun and the detail is clear. The hills on the left of the picture give an idea as to how high you really are.

Wayne “The TV tower in Berlin”
This image is clear, well composed and shows the whole of the tower. The clouds give some detail in the sky and the way the tower converges shows how high the tower is. I think a border around the picture would help it stand out more.

Scuba diver “Thinking low”
You certainly have been thinking low. For an underwater picture you have managed to get good detail and good lighting, the smaller fish gives an idea of the size of the shark.

Paul “Looking down on Laura”
Good lighting and taken form an interesting view point.

Pammie “Main Door at Liverpool's Anglican cathedral”
A good strong image with great lighting and good detail. The dark area at the top distracts slightly, but with a building this size it is not easy to select an interesting part of the building without something getting in the way.

After much thought, my votes are as follows

1st Wayne. (This is the sort of image I had in mind when setting the comp.)
2nd GerryG
3rd Tracey

Thanks again for all the entries, Wayne, over to you !

Regards, Barry
