Urban Exploration - Urbex
Re: Urban Exploration - Urbex
Abandoned Places by Henk Van Rensbergen - Obtained from Hay-on-Wye for less than £200 - £500 - and now fully digested. Excellent volume, less writing, more photos and almost all in black and white. This volume seems more tentative and less ambitious, being mainly exteriors with very little penetration of the buildings. There is a terrific image of a stairwell in a very grand house, totally filled with encroaching vegetation. That is the sort of thing I especially like - nature reclaiming ground from the works of man.
Best regards

Grats on the cheep find
.. Spoke to Henk about this a few weeks ago .. It was published back in 2007 when urbexing was in its infancy and sti done by wide eyed aventurers getting into virgin territory and not the familey sunday outing that it has become ... I know Henk has enuff to work on vol 3 but he says he is hoding back for a while so as not to flood the market ....
Wouldn't mind having a look at that

I was lucky enough to get this volume for less than £25, including shipping, so there are copies to be found. I'll happily let you have a look at it for yourself.
Best regards

Re: Urban Exploration - Urbex
I received the new book from RomanyWG from Amazon today - it's called 'Out Of Sight - Urban Art/Abandoned Spaces'.
I've only skimmed through it so far but, like 'Beauty in Decay', there's some stunning photography. It concerns itself with the art that has been created in the places most of us don't go.
I'll stick it in my bag on thursday, ask me if you want to take a look.
