WITH YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS. SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT. I'VE JUST COME FROM A COMPETITION. LAST MONTH A PICTURE WAS THROWN OUT BECAUSE A DOOR WAS TOO BIG ACCORDING TO THE JUDGE. NOW YOU COULD GO AWAY AND REDUCE THE SIZE OF THE DOOR. OR RESUBMIT THE PICTURE AS WAS. THE PICTURE WAS RESUBMITTED WITH NO CHANGES AND WON THE COMPETITION WITH NO MENTION OF THE DOOR.
IF YOU LIKE YOUR PICTURE IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT ANYBODY ELSE THINKS. SO IS THE BOAT NOW A WINNER OR WAS THE PICTURE RUBBISH FROM THE START.

I think your first image was the better of the two Gerry. It's happened to me as well - very early on I changed an image in line with a judge's suggestions. The suggestions were ill advised and the image was unbalanced by the changes. I think this has happened here - the other boats balance the image.
Best regards

Re: BOAT AFTER CRITIQUE
Gerry, I prefer the single boat, definately. Also, the chains now look less sharpened and much more real as they are bigger and you can see the colour is different on each of the links. I think the sky look less overpowering with the crop as well.
I definately prefer this one.
By the way, if you enetered it in a comp though, the judge would score it a 15, because he doesn't like boats. Or 20, because he really likes boats.

Re: BOAT AFTER CRITIQUE
HI PHILIP,
Still think you are wrong, but as you say, you may like boats or you may not. somebody else may say the boat should be red not blue.

You've answered your own question.
This forum is for comments, but you don't have to agree with them. If you like the image the way it is then you should have the courage of your conviction to stick with it .
PS - why the CAPS LOCK all the time?
