Hi Gerry,
personally I'm not so keen on the first image of Becky. I prefer the second one, I think it is much more striking. Either way, very different!!

There's potential here Gerry, but sorry, for me, it's a tad too much on both images. Sorry, you can't please everyone...
However, it's always good to experiment. I'm just processing images from last Saturday's shoot and trying a few things I've not done before and am loving the results.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR COMMENTS. THESE PICTURE WILL NEVER BE SHOWN IN A COMPETITION, BECAUSE I DO KNOW WHAT MOST JUDGES ARE LIKE. BUT IF WE ONLY PRODUCED PICTURES THAT JUDGES LIKE WE WOULD NEVER SEE ANYTHING NEW. GERRY

That seems a bit contradictory to me, Gerry.
Show the images that YOU like and don't think that you have to pander to judges.

Its always good to try new ways of doing things and often you don't quite know where it will take you.
I like these HDR images by Gerry, and I am sure he doesn't need me to tell him that in the right context with an appropriate backdrop the textures wouldn't look out of place as much as they do in a straight portrait.
And Gerry certainly has the necessary skills to do with them anything he could wish in that regard.
As far as competitions go, it is nice when other people, (judge or others) appreciate the effort you have put in but that should not be the be all and end all of your hobby.
We should all take pictures and create images that we are happy to make and that please ourselves. Trying to please other people is never as important as the sense of achievement you get from creating something that you are proud of, regardless of what anyone else thinks.
( and I expect a few raised highbrows for that comment coming from me..

By the way Tracey, I think it's safe to say that Gerry has been 'giving me a run for my money' ever since he stepped through the door .
... and Keithybabes ?? !!
Keith.
