Pammie, it's a double bluff I'm sure. We do know that you hate the unmentionable place and will not be going!

What will you be doing on Sunday? Anything fun?

Anyone who is going to Portmerion, will they see either Jim or myself on Thursday night at the club and we will give you our mobile phone number. This is in case anyone is delayed or find they cannot go at the last moment. Jim will be waiting by the main entrance to the place to introduce them to the officials ie "money takers", so they know who the members of our club are. Our aim is to get the group together for entry at the same time.
Anyone not at the club on Thursday send us an email via here and we will send you our phone number.
The opening time is 9.30 and we will try to be there just after 9am.
Bring money and Welsh Phrase books......

Hi folks,
My wife is taking the grandchildren away for the weekend, I can borrow one of the boys BMX bikes, any idea what time I should set off to get to Portmeirion for 9-30, I have looked on Google map route finder but it doesn't give a time for someone my age on a BMX bike.
Bert.

Hi Bert,
Not sure about a BMX. Jim and I are setting off on Friday on our Sooooooped up GOCART. We will take it in turns stearing and running behind pushing.
We have found a new set of state of the art pram wheels no wear on the tyres. Whoops I dont suppose many folks remember hunting around looking for old pram wheels to put on the home made gocarts.
We are concerned about how the pusher will keep up when we go down hill, the big poblem will be the pushing uphill.
Ah well hopefully we will be there by sunday morning.

Jim & Glen

From Tyldesley to Portmeirion is 2.5 hours, more or less exactly. Or at least it will be at 7am on a Sunday morning!

I usually go M56>M53>A494 Ruthin>B5105 (a terrific road through the forest)>A5>B4407>B4391>A470 Ffestiniog>B4391 down the hill to A496 to Maentwrog>A487 Penrhyndeudraeth and then on to Portmeirion.

It sounds complicated but it's a fantastic drive and really very straightforward.

Just a last thought before The Event tomorrow.

Don't be put off too easily by the weather here in Manchester. Portmeirion is very sheltered and has a micro-climate all of its own. Whilst it's never guaranteed, it can be beautiful in Portmeirion whilst it's snowing and blizzards all the way there.

Unfortunately it looks like Sue and I won't be there, which is very disappointing, we were looking forward to a great photo meet with you all, but I hope you all have a great time.

If you get the chance explore the woods on the peninsula and walk all the way down to the metal "Lighthouse" at the far end, past the hotel and the stone boat and just keep going till you get there. There are all sorts of things all over Portmeirion, so let out the child within and have fun!

:)
