Hanna was a delightful model. Here's my first processed shot from the session:

Hi John, the only thing I would say is that it looks rather grey and lacking in contrast - look at the teeth for example. If this were my shot I'd run it through a curves adjustment.

Well, one of the purposes of this Images forum is to post pictures for comment, so like Steve, I'll jump in...

John, I agree with Steve (sunsworth) and feel that your shot would benefit from giving it more 'punch' and added contrast. It looks very 'grey'. I'd also query if it's the kind of shot that benefits from being mono rather than colour, but that's a personal choice.

I really like Ian's photo, though because of her pose and upward gaze, I'd be tempted to have shot it as a vertical (portrait) rather than horizontal (landscape). I feel that much of the frame isn't being used effectively. Why not try cropping it into a vertical and maybe extending the canvas upward? Just a thought...

Many thanks for the input. I'd like to see more of us commenting on images, sharing thoughts as to the merits or otherwise. Don't be shy!

To go back to my original post, why did I make it like that, as two people at least think it's too grey? The short answer is because I liked it that way....but you're probably both quite right. Why black and white? Again, I just liked it, but that's a personal choice. It's the only one from the shoot that I turned into black and white, all the others are in colour.

Hi John - I completely agree with your thought process. :D As long as you like it, that's the main thing.

I really like Ian's as well, I'm a big fan of blank areas and the focus piece on a third.
Gill, your's is the same, however, I just prefer darker backgrounds to white as the black does not work as a reflector, so you get some fall off in the light, which is what I like about John's.

John, obviously, all that matters is you like it, but I like it as well.
