This is my first attempt at close ups using my kit lens and a huge crop. Not 100% sure if the ID is correct.

I like everything about this bar one thing, but the composition, textures, colour harmony are perfect. The one thing is that I feel the point of sharpest focus is on the leaf rather than the insect. If the focus was spot on as well as everything else it would be just fantastic.
AS for the description, I'd probably call it Green Insect as well! It's safe and certainly true...

Hi Pauline
It looks good. Good colours and composition.
I take John's comment about sharpness onboard.
You can get away with a huge crop for web use. Have you tried printing it to see how it turns out?

Hi Pauline
Great first attempt at macro photography - I would be very please with this if it was mine. The colours and composition are spot on but it's difficult to get everything perfect, they are so small and quick but an excellent effort all the same - keep it up.

No Paul I haven't printed this out but I will give it a go.

Hi Pauline,
A really good first attempt at macro work, depth of field and sharpness are both the hardest to get used to controlling,
but it is all a question of practice, a good alternative to using a macro lens is to use extension tubes with these you can use any of your existing lenses,
Attached a couple of my images using tubes, and a Sigma 400 f5.6 lens, if you look on my EPHOTOZINE site there are more images taken with tubes and other lenses.
Regards,
Bert.

Talking of Berts portfolio - I hope you (Bert) are going to enter some of your amazing images into this seasons competitions, you really should, I'm sure they will blow the judges away, they are truly awsome.
