Colour Correction. Fuji finepix S602z

Post by KarlThorne »

Just tried to take a photo of someone's new hair colour which is bright pink, however when i take the picture it comes out red and not pink. There must be some sort of colour issue with my camera which is a Fuji Finepix S602z. Is there a setting which will give a more true colour picture. Thanks

Hi Karl

Fuji cameras are renowned for their colour. I own the Fuji S5 Pro and Fuji S2 Pro.

A few questions...

Do other colours look 'normal' on your PC screen or does your monitor need calibrating?

Does the skin tone look 'normal' on the photo?

What 'white balance' setting are you using on the camera, eg auto white balance, etc?

What lighting conditions did you take the photo under, eg outside daylight, indoor fluorescent lights, etc?

Maybe you can post the photos onto the forum for people to have a look at?

The colour is the same on the PC as it is on the camera.

skin tone is normal

white balance is set to auto because i haven't learned how to use the manual settings effectively yet

I took multiple photos, 1 outside and about 3 inside under different light. unfortunately these got corrupted somehow and ill have to take some more

Colour depends on both ther subject and the colour of the light falling on it. So, for example, the light of a sunset is much redder than the light at midday. AWB "corrects" colour balance as the camera sees fit, but this also dilutes the richness of colours and makes them blander.

If you have a "Daylight" setting, try that instead of AWB and you might find that the colours are more to your liking.
Best regards

As John already stated it is probably your AWB.
The camera does not have Daylight so try Shade or Fine.
