I finally thought my son was ready for having my camera pointed at him from one angle and a speedlite from another.
He always looks like he's thinking and as though there is something on his mind.
I would welcome your critique:

Hopefully these type of threads might encourage more people to post photos and to comment on them.
I actually think this is quite a difficult subject to critique because a baby shot is always very personal.
Things I like in this shot are:
- the position of the head in the frame
- the diagonal composition and filling of the frame
- the simplistic nature of the shot
In fact there's not much to not like.
Eye contact would have been a bonus, but having had two children of my own I know that catching that decisive moment can be difficult - but wonderful when it happens.

A lovely image although I would prefer less shadow on the right. Would a reflector have helped? I personally love natural lighting for babies particularly window light. Having had the pleasure of meeting Oliver (& Eleanor) I must say that he is even more handsome in the flesh

I agree with Paul, critique and feed back is really helpful if only to confirm when we get it right!

It is good that people can post photos on here to comment and agree more should do it. I would agree with Paul this is a personal subject but all the same it is nice to share something this beautiful with others. The picture is simplistic in its composition and captures that 'moment' perfectly, lighting is just enough and the eyes are full of thought as you said. Thank you for sharing it with us - beautiful photograph from a very proud dad.

A long time since I had the pleasure of taking pictures of my 'boy(s)' but this shot surely brings back some happy memories.
His expression suggests that he is thinking of just how many times he will have to smile at a camera and 'watch the birdie'.
Nice picture my friend and who would dare to criticise it .
Cheers
Michael
