i have been looking at some of my older photos and doing some re-edits on them this is one i have done so far

I like the re-edit - the first time round it was a literal rendition and quite bland. The basic composition was good though and the re-edit has lifted it into a nice fantasy. It would suit a book illustration very well.

Hi Jared,
I have been staring at your two photo's for some time now, without really coming to a conclusion. For me the scene has a horror feel to it. Keep expecting the bodies to rise up once darkness settles in. So with this in mind I have to sway towards the first image. Though when I look at the second image. I feel the Colour does give it a little something. Saying that the saturation is a little strong for me. I'm not really experienced enough to outright judge your image. Im sure these members will follow. So I thought it easier to post how I sensed it should look, rather than go through chapter and verse. I hope you dont mind me posting. Please ask for it to be removed if you prefer.

I would have left the sky as was and a small curve to pull some shaddow details.

How about something like the very tall, black & white voodoo character from the James Bond film "Live and let Die" coming up from the grave on the right. If you wanted to make it all your own work you could ask Mark to pose at one of Gill's photoshoots. He certainly has the height for it.

Seriously I like the second edit much better but would have pulled the saturation of the greens down a little. Only my opinion.

Jared, as Theo comments - a little more shadow detail and I may have looked at a left hand crop to the edge of the tree to eliminate the buildings, leading in from the bottom left with the cross and a little off the sky - but it has to be the monochrome for me.

I much prefer the original mono version, though if it were mine I would crop some of the sky off.

The colourised version looks too 'fake' for my liking (the colours don't look real).


Kamgan Ukudigaa

I Like both versions but my preference is for the coloured. I agree with the green being to strong and would take it down a bit to give it a more 'natural' and eerie feel. I also agree that a crop of the buildings on the left hand side would make the subject stronger. Would be interesting to see what a figure coming out of the grave would be like! Nice work Jared.

That's the way with most images.
You will rarely please everyone.
Go with the one that YOU like best.
