It's sharp where it should be and the out of focus background teasels add to the sense of depth of the image. A pleasant arrangement just leaving me a bit uninspired by the actual subject. The wide border is bold and complements the colours in the image and I could imagine it as a print mounted on a board of that colour. This could work. Usually it doesn't, but here could be one of the rare exceptions.
I think you've made a good job of this, just not the most exciting subject. Hope that doesn't sound over-critical, it's not meant to!

Thanks for taking the time to reply, I do agree it is lacking something, I was hoping for a goldfinch to land on it as they are apparently rather fond of teasels but it wasn't to be

I agree with John's summation, but it's well taken and a good test of your photographic skills and I'm sure you enjoyed the practice. If it was a brightly coloured flower it might have more impact.
