The subject I have chosen for this competition is doors / door ways.
This can include anything from a close up of a doorknocker to a wide-angle shot of the classic rose covered door of a country cottage, from an ornate keyhole to a portcullis. Church doors, cupboard doors, car doors, the choice is yours. The competition closes at midnight on 2nd April, happy snapping !

My Picture was taken in the depth of winter at dead of night with only ambient light. It is part of an AV show composed of similar shots.

I've been looking through all my photos trying to find suitable shots of doors or knockers but couldn't find any.
So I shot this yesterday. I hope you like it.

John - Little Yellow Riding Hood at Grandmama's Door
A nice composition with an air of mystery, what lies behind the door? I like the fact that you have not converted to monochrome as the colour allows the detail in the brickwork and woodwork to stand out

Yatchman – high street
A well lit and sharp picture with no blown out areas – not any easy task when using only ambient light. I like the way the shop light reflect on the cobbled street. I am sure there would be more detail had this been a colour image.

Janice - Poison Garden
An intriguing image, one wonder’s what delights await the visitor. A well-lit, sharp image with plenty of detail. The people captured in the top half of the shot show the viewer the scale of these gates.

Stuart - A nice bit of brass.
The only close-up entry. Well balanced and lit. A sharp image that shows the little detail, right down to the brasso in the screw heads and the grain in the wood.

Myra - A Plain Old Door.
A well balanced image that shows detail in both the brickwork and the woodwork. The colours blend together well and you have managed to keep the doors up-right without converging lines.

Pauline - St Helens Church
Another well balanced shot with great detail, colour and plenty of depth that is quite sharp. There are no converging lines or dark shadows to distract the viewer. ( not a bad image from a phone )

Pammie – Tatton
Almost an “Alice in Wonderland” picture. Well framed, plenty of detail and another air of mystery as to what lies behind. A hint of colour would have been nice.

Des – For Sale -- as seen
Rustic, rusting and rotting, what more could one ask for in a property!. Plenty of colour and detail, even down to the spiders webs in the windows.

Gill – Doors
I count 6 doors. A good mix of colour, no converging lines and a dramatic sky. The wire from the telegraph pole is a little distracting though.

Tracey - Prague Cathedral Doors
Plenty of depth & detail with minimal converging lines. The carving on the stonework and doors stand out very well and the lighting is good.

Paul - As usual Paul is absolutely correct
The door or doorway are not really the features in this shot, but the shadow being cast by the model appears to follow the grain on the panel in the centre of the door.

After careful consideration my choices are

3rd Place, Des & Pauline
2nd place, Tracey, John & Pammie
1st place, Janice

Not too sure if I can have so many joint places, but with such high quality images to choose from it was hard not to.

Oh my goodness! I can't believe that I came first - and out of such a great set of entries. Well done to everyone who entered and once my excitement ( and panic) has died down, I hope to come up with an interesting subject - watch this space.
