Here's a thread in which to show off some pictures from tonight's ADAPS wander round Atherton. I'll put more on later, but for now, this is where we started:

I thoroughly enjoyed last nights stroll around Atherton and was amazed at the photo opportunities available - but there again - I still find it hard to restrain myself and snap just about everything. My favourite from the night is this photo of the cenotaph. I have never tried low light photograpy before so am quite pleased with the result. Taken on f8 1/5sec ISO3200 hand held as I had no tripod with me. Centre weighted metering Single spot focus. The image is noisy because of the high ISO. Could I have done anything differently to reduce the noise? All comments/critiques more than welcome

That looks great Janice, very well done. There is noise reduction software available, but a little noise isn't too obtrusive.

WOW Jarred, where did you spot that - it's great, totally missed that one.

Here is my attempt at dof - think I might have had my lens on too wide of an appeture - what do you think?

Great atmospheric phot Jarred.

I like your shot very much Tracey. (I seem to be drawn to 'grungy') In my opinion, the dof is really good and you have a very clear specific point of focus. I tried to achieve the same effect with this steel shutter on Atherton high street.

The only thing I took was a shot of one of Atherton's premier properties!

Janice,

Like your picture of the Cenotaph very much, it`s very well taken, the bit of noise doesn`t worry me.

Best wishes Myra

There are some superb shots turning up in this thread. Atherton looks more interesting than I thought it would be.

Love your flower pictures Tracey. Here are another two that I tried. I have tried to give the young lad a 'gritty' effect.
