Thursday 10th January 2013 - L&CPU Folio

To explain for newer members, the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union (L&CPU) is an organisation that's like a club for the clubs, so the local photographic clubs can join. The L&CPU offers judges (I'm one of these), speakers, advantageous insurance rates, and so on. We pay an annual subscription depending on how many members we have. In its turn, the regional L&CPU is a member of the PAGB (Photographic Alliance of Great Britain) and then of course beyond that there are international organisations. It's a big world out there.
The L&CPU also have an annual competition/exhibition and we encourage every one to enter this. Keith Richardson organises the entry and he will no doubt be reminding us about it very soon. From the annual, the L&CPU assembles folios, selections of images that are either the best or, sometimes, the most interesting from the images entered.
When we show a folio it's well worth seeing as it shows us the benchmark of the general quality across all the clubs in the L&CPU area. Sometimes we may be impressed, sometimes less so, but the important thing is that it's another way to keep in touch with that mysterious wider world of club photography.
