Forum Competition #112 - "Make Me Smile"
I like pictures that create amusement or happiness, I think the subject is wide enough to ensure a reasonable entry. We go on holiday at the end of August so I will close entries at midnight 26th August. Go On! "MAKE ME SMILE"

Well, we don't seem to be getting much response to what I assumed would be a popular subject? To try to generate more interest, the picture here was taken at a band contest at Southport's Botanic Gardens, it made me smile.

Homo Photographans in their natural habitat. It has long been observed that these strange creatures gather in packs, satisfying their feeding frenzy with bizarre postures and strange clicking noises. This group were found hunting in a wildlife park and we are lucky to see them as they corner their prey, raising their dark snouts ready to strike. The tiger a few feet away out of shot was terrified, but quite helpess in the face of Photographing Man.
Best regards

Re: Forum Competition #112 - "Make Me Smile"
Firstly, I was very surprised at the low entry numbers, in my camera club days I would have loved the subject compared to some I was given.
I don't want to give a blow by blow account for each picture as I feel this subject is more dependant on the photographers sense of humour rather than their technical skills.
As Eric Morley (late of the Miss World Competition) used to say, I will announce the results in reverse order-
3rd place Philip with his I Love Manchester picture, where I think the subject was loving his ice cream more than Manchester.
2nd place Dennis2, with his itchy sheep, I took a similar shot when visiting Jervaulx Abbey in Wensleydale, where they have little fences around the trees to prevent the animals wrecking them, mine was a sheep leaning on a fence.
1st place John with Homo Photographans, again I took a similar shot at a visit to Wensleydale Agricultural show, where our club chairman poked his 200mm into my shot of a steam powered lorry. So John, you made me smile, over to you for the next subject. Thanks again to all the entrants.

Thank you for the winning position, much appreciated. I will post a subject after I've eaten and the brain is nourished and at its best!
