Bailey brings a mischievous glint to the Queen’s eye

A portrait of the Queen by British photographer David Bailey has been released in honour of her 88th birthday.

Some artists focused on her robes and jewels, others on her regal bearing or, as she got older, her wrinkles. A few made the corgis an essential accessory. However, for David Bailey it was her kind yet mischievous eyes that he most wanted to bring out.

It's unmistakenly a 'Bailey' portrait, isn't it? I think he's succeeded in showing us something of her personality in quite an informal formal portrait.

What a cracking shot - this would be a winner in this week's forum competition!
She looks as if she's just heard a dirty joke from Phillip....!

It demonstrates that you don't need props, fancy lighting or any unnecesary clutter in the frame.
It's about bringing out the personality behind the person. :D
