Thanks again to Tracey for choosing my shot - I too really liked Pauls image, so I'm quite honoured to have pipped him to the post.

Anyways... This competition consists of slow shutter speeds - images taken with some motion captured within them, be it creative abstract blurring, sports car panning or tripod based long exposures. Its up to you guys and you have until midnight Sunday 7th September to get your entry in.

Easy Rider - one of my first attempts at slow shutter and panning.

This is part of the fireworks display after the concert by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Rochester Castle, Kent, in July.

Taken at the Bristol balloon festival

A slow shutter speed enabled a small aperture to render all of the image sharp. 1.5s on a tripod. This is called "The sum of human knowledge"

A wheely slow shutter speed was required to get this

Having spent most of my photographic life trying to keep blur out of my pictures I struggled searching my archives for an image to fit the brief. Then I remembered a visit to Foss Falls in Richmond, when we lived in Leyburn. I know blurred water has been flogged to death, but that is all I could come up with.

Janice Freeman - Easy Rider
Nicely panned Janice! Good sense of some speed in this image which has been well handled, bike is sharp and background has a decent amount of motion blur. Quite like it being a mono image too - only niggle here is that it's tight to the edges of the frame.

Mel Barnes - Fireworks
Must try this myself Mel! This is obviously done on a tripod leaving the shutter open for a couple of seconds which leaves the light streaking effect that's nicely demonstrated here. I would have liked to have seen a better composition though and perhaps a point of interest on the ground.

Matthew - The Funfair
Great colours here Matthew that stand out from the black background and are very striking. I think it would have been better taken on a tripod though as there is some obvious camera shake.

bazzasmeg - Wheel
Damming with faint praise here - This is a better photograph than Matthew's, however, I prefer his! Bazzasmeg has done everything right here though, camera seems to have been on a tripod and the dynamic range captured is better, BUT we'll see who trumps who later…

John Riley - The Sum of Human Knowledge
Interesting image John, technically flawless too! The thing that lets it down is that there's no motion capture within the image.

Eric (yachtsman1) - Foss Falls
Well Eric, this is a good image that conveys the feeling of movement very well. However, it suffers from being pretty much a stock-shot/background image with not a huge amount of interest for the viewer.

Well done Janice - Your image was a good one that answered to brief well, just watch your framing (all comes down to practice) and you'll be an ADAPS sports photography star soon!

Bazzasmeg came second in the end as his photo was technically better and that was thing that pipped Matthew's image to the post (of second place )

Well done Janice, a worth winner. Looking forward to the next competition.
