I like these most of all.

Looks like you had a good time. I like the first and third images best.

Good exposures and tones on both. I prefer the shot of Neil for the more natural expression.

I find the black vignettes on all the images rather obtrusive. I can understand if you're trying to hide something in the background, but also the way it overlaps Neil's arms is a bit heavy. Just my personal opinion.

Fair enough Paul. In this case it was literally to get rid of the bums in the background.

After your comments Paul (much appreciated) have had another go at Wigan Warrior. No vignette just a bit of dodging and
a little cloning. Any better?

I can see that Neil had someone behind him with a short-sleeved striped shirt on.

I've very quickly added a masked Curves adjustment layer to darken down the background. He now hopefully looks like he was photographed against a black background.

When someone has bare arms in a portrait they can often pull your eye downwards, so I have cropped them down. This should hopefully put more focus on the face and less on the arms.

I hope you don't mind me editing your photo.

I don't mind at all you having adjusted my picture and I bow (most humbly) to your expertise. It's a pity
that I can't claim your version and put it into one of the monthlies but it's against the rules.

One thing. Between us we have converted a grab shot taken by bounced flash into a pretty good portrait
of a man of character written all over his face. LOL.

Excellent sharp photos Mike - particularly the ones of Charlotte - and the pie-eating beast has come out well too...
