mono conversion 2

As before your criticisms are welcomed.
For this one I used the colour channels as described by John in his recent club evening. This version makes the dominant red buoys dark but I wonder if the ropes and nets are a little pale.

The composition of this is better, with a more interesting foregraound. Our eyes do tend to be drawn to the brightest part of an image, unfortunately here just sacks, but the idea is sound.
The black and white is better with the more interesting sky. I'd make it a bit more dramatic still, which is just a matter of adjusting the various channels to taste.

This one has possibilities for a black and white treatment. However, I think your mono conversion is a bit flat. Try dragging an 'S' curve and see if it gives it a bit more 'punch'.
The foreground is a bit messy. Was that the 'best' viewpoint to take it from? I'd have been tempted to pick up the red balls and move them to a better position.
