NOTE: THIS IS TO BE CONFIRMED NEARER THE TIME, DUE TO MAINTENANCE WORK:

I have had permission from Leigh Spinners Mill (near Butts Bridge, Leigh) to organise an ADAPS outing to photograph the steam engine that is being refurbished. I will also check with my contact if we are allowed to visit the rest of the mill.

The visit is tentatively arranged for Sat 4 March (but will be confirmed nearer the time); the general public visiting time will be 10:00 to 14:00, but we will be able to gain access from 9:30, so that we will have 30 minutes to ourselves, then the rest of the time whilst the public is in attendance. My contact there said that if the sun is shining, it streams through the windows in the early morning, and provides a "great effect".

I'll put up a list in ADAPS shortly so that you can add your name if you are interested.

CORRECTION! Saturday 5th March

The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that the date for the Leigh Spinners Mill visit should read:

Saturday 5th March.

Sorry for any confusion, due to a typo in my spreadsheet.

Again, this visit will be confirmed nearer the time, due to maintenance work going on in the mill.

Down Hall Houses Lane there used to be a restaurant - The Steak and Stilton. That's a long time ago - anyone remember it?

An excellent trip out today, and greeted and shown around by really nice staff. We also have the promise of another photo shoot inside the rest of the mill, at a date to be agreed, plus the potential for another photo shoot in the steam engine hall with a couple of models - probably to be arranged in the summer. In the meantime here is a shot of today's togs....
