The latest version of Firefox is now colour space aware - i.e. it'll correctly use an ICC profile embedded in an image.

By default it's switched off, but there are details here showing how to switch it on - either my using a plug in, or manually...

I've seen a couple of comments elsewhere that the colour management of Firefox 3 does not give good on-screen images.

Following on from what you say Steve I'm wondering if they realised that the default was "off."

John, maybe that's the case. It's a little strange that it's not switched on by default - or that there's no direct access to it from the options menu. Perhaps it's still "work in progress"? What ever the case it appears to work, which has to be a good thing.

Years. IE 8 is in the pipeline but since IE7 have been with us for quite a while I would not hold my breath. Has anyone tested Safari for image quality. It is the browser that is the most standards compliant of all the current browser versions. That includes Firefox 3!

Mike, even though I use a MacBook I've never really used Safari, preferring Firefox. I must have a play sometime.

Safari for the PC seemed a bit buggy when it was originally released, don't know if that's improved since then.

Safari is my browser of choice even on the PC. The font rendering on the PC version is much more 'chunky' than the mac version for some reason. I never really got to the bottom of why!
