IMPORTANT - Print Competitions 2019/20 Season
Posted: Thu Jul 11, 2019 7:14 am
The ADAPS Committee have discussed at length the low participation in print competitions, both in the monthly and annual competitions, and have agreed the following changes to the print competitions for the 2019/20 season.
Please note that these changes are by way of a trial for 2019/20, and the Committee will review their success or otherwise, following the annual competitions at the end of the season.
The changes to the monthly competitions for 2019/20 are:
September 2019 PRINT competition
October 2019 DPI competition
November 2019 DPI competition
January 2020 PRINT competition
February 2020 DPI competition
March 2020 DPI competition
Print entries will be accepted either unmounted or mounted. If mounted, this should be on the standard 40 cm x 50 cm mount.
Print entries will be accepted from a minimum size of 20 cm x 15 cm (8” x 6”), or larger – including A4 - up to the usual size to fit the standard 40 cm x 50 cm boards.
Members should be reassured that we will be advising the judges on these nights that the size of the print should not be given any consideration, and the judging is based purely on the content and quality of the image.
Print entries must be accompanied by a digital version of the image (either on a memory stick, CD or emailed to the competition secretary), plus a completed competition entry form, which can be downloaded from the club website. This will be mandatory from next season onwards.
As is standard practice following any competition, whether print or digital, some images will be required by the External Competitions Secretary for use in external competitions and battles. Where the External Competition Secretary has selected images for this purpose, he will liaise with the author(s) of the chosen image(s) to advise on the best way to get the image(s) suitably printed and mounted.
As usual members’ wishes regarding their images will be honoured. If any member does not wish their entry to be used in this way, they should indicate appropriately on the club competition entry form, or by speaking to the External Competition Secretary.
Please note the annual competitions, the Joe Jackson Trophy and the Terry Mooney Trophy (and any club ‘fun’ events, such as the Ladies v Gents night) will not change. All other club rules relating to competition entries stay the same, as specified in the club’s competition rules available on the club website, or displayed on the club notice board.
