#267 Petals
Thank you Lesley for choosing my image.
I’ve given some thought to the new topic and as it’s spring, Mother’s Day in a couple of weeks and Easter shortly afterwards there will be plenty of flowers around so to make it more challenging I’ve chosen PETALS.
Closing date Sunday April 3rd.
Looking forward to seeing the entries.

Re: #267 Petals
Petals exist solely for pollinator seduction....but these little orchids take that to extremes!

Nearly there. I’ll sleep on the decision and let you all know tomorrow. There was a good number of entries and excellent interpretations. Well done to our three new members for persevering- you got there in the end.

Re: #267 Petals
Thank you all for supporting this competition. I never feel totally qualified to judge other peoples work but here goes ..
These are only my opinion based on what I liked. I did think one or two were not as sharp as I would have expected and wonder if this was down to the resizing process.
1. Sue I liked the water droplets on the rose. Possibly a bit too much shadow.
2. John. I love the sweet peas and the painting effect but thought the background texture was perhaps too heavy
3.Darren. Lovely crisp and sharp. Was this the new camera?.
4. Drainbrain . Loved the explanation/comment. I thought it was slightly out of focus but that may have been the resizing that caused that.
5.Mike. Interesting paint effect and the added touch of the wasp.
6.Lesley. Lovely colours and beautifully sharp.
7.Mel. Brilliantly different interpretation. Background a bit cluttered but that couldn’t be helped.
8.Susie. I love blossom of any sort. Could possibly have been a bit sharper but again this might have happened in the resizing.
9.Vicky. Clear and sharp. I’m being a bit picky but I would have left out the bud to the right.
10. Elaine. I liked the colour contrast and the angle that this was taken from.
11. Gordon. Another different interpretation. Who would believe that they were made from sugar.
Hope I’ve not offended too many people but the final result is
1. Mel Barnes
2. Gordon Armstrong
3. Elaine Mahon
4. Everyone else.
Over to you Mel for the next one.
