Warrington Framing Co. Winstanley Ind. Estate, Long Lane (A50), Warrington WA2 8PR ( 01925 415795). I used to pick up my mounting & backing board from there when I was in & around the Warrington area. If I remember rightly you'll get four 20" x 16" pieces out of one large board at a cost of approx. 90p i'sh (might have gone up a bit since I was last there) for a 20 x 16. It's quite easy to find.......from Bolton, M62 exit at Junc.9 and turn left onto A49 Newton Rd/Winnick Rd. At 2nd roundabout turn left onto A50 Long Lane. After 3/400 yards there is a mill on your right hand side.........you're there, small parking area in front.

Another option I usually go for is the Colourmount boards from the Range shops, (in Wigan or Bolton), that are £1.99 for an A1 size sheet. That gives you 2 boards at 16 x 20 in a big choice of colours and finishes.

£18 for 25 (he also does 1.4mm which I'm getting a price for).

Also, I then plan to have the image printed 20x16 and to glue it to the board, using a spray mount fix. Would this do the trick?

It's essential to use Photo Mount spray (red can) and not Spray Mount (blue can) otherwise the prints peel off very quickly.

Any print size up to 20" x 16" can be mounted on the board, although most that we see in competitions are around A3 in size.

Just make sure you get the RED 3M spray mount and not the blue one. If you want to know why, ask Keith Richardson who probably still has a can for sale.

Thank you for reminding me Theo.
Luckily the therapy seems to have worked and I only get a slight nervous tic now when my pictures come out of the box.

I think it is about somewhere, (I couldn't give it away). I found that it was ideal for creating moving pictures, especially if you wanted your pictures to move independently of the mounting board.

I have found one good use for the blue stuff.
Spray the back of an A4 photograph (one you do not want anymore) and let it dry for about a half-hour.
Now run it through your printer with the sticky side up. It clears all debris off the rollers and the printer pick-up improves substantially.
This works particularly well if you are using textured art papers or fibre base ones.

Working in Heywood at the moment and there is a shop I used to use - but will check it out in case things have changed - they sold mounting boards in a variety of colours and different core colours with apertures cut to requested size[s].
