I will Be Dropping Into The Club Tonight

Post by jonbeeza »

Having had my D60 for a few years now, I have taken a few photos with it. But the button is stuck on auto, I need someone to show me how to turn the button to some other setting. I really do have no idea how to use it  . So with that in mind, I am going to pop into the club tonight 27th Oct 2011. I do want to join together with my partner, but I am dropping by on my own first, the reason being my partner is not very mobile she has a disability and uses a wheelchair. But either way I do think I will join, even if my partner decides not too.

A quick question: How many people attend the club generally?

Hello!

Tonight should be quite busy as it's competition night. I don't know, 60 or 70 people?
What do you photograph and what are your interests?

You will find plenty of people at the club to talk to. There will be other users of the same camera who will help you and pleanty of others with different camera that will also chip in. You will learn a lot and hopefully meet like minded people which is what the club is all about.

On Saturday morning, there is a photography for beginners session, however, you need to be a member to attend. There are usually more throughout the season though.

I think the club has a ramp for wheelchair access, but I think you are doing the right thing to come alone alone at first so you can suss that out.

No doubt, John will be along in a minute with his usual warm welcome.

Hi PhilipHowe, thanks for that,

I am just starting up a personal blog, and this is just a place to stick my thoughts and ideas, and photos as illustration. I do a little bit of camping and interested in motorbikes ( classics ) and I am trying to get out and about more. So I thought it would be good idea to take a photo of any events, such as when I am visiting my mate with his classic bikes. Or when I am off on a camping trip in Wales, or even walking around villages in wales, and various other places.

I bought the D60 a few years ago, and this was with the idea of taking some half decent shots. My partner took the same shots with her mobile phone, and these turned out better then what I took with the D60 ! I did even mention to my partner that her phone was better than my camera, until I realised it was me, not having a clue how to use my own camera  So we both thought it was time I joined a club, and maybe get some hints and tips.

Also I have spoken to Paul Jones by email, and he did tell me about wheelchair access. Yes there is a ramp, and I was told to simply tell them if I was coming with my partner. They would then kindly organise the ramp for us ( Thanks Paul ) . But I will pop up on my own first, just too see how things run. looking forward to it :)

You'll be most welcome - it should be a lively night so make sure in the general mayhem you get to say hello!

Great stuff, looking forward to seeing the club. The amount of times I passed by going to my mates house, and I never knew it was there

Mayhem? On competition night?

25% of the audience will be moaning about the judge
25% of the audience will be moaning about the projector
25% of the audience will be moaning that there are too many images and the judge takes to long keeping them from their cupper
and 25% of the audience will be moaning that they have nothing to moan about.

All up I expect it to be a normal, routine, no surprises, well behaved and calm evening.

Ohhh ..... I must remember to bring the flak jacket for the judge. :-d :-d
