Sync lead stuck
I did a shoot with a friend on Saturday in the sub zero temperatures of Atherton.
Anyway, the sync lead has snapped in the light head and I wondered if anyone can help get it out as the light won't flash while the end is stuck in there.
The light is an interfit EX150 and the 3.5mm jackplug has broken about half way in. Because it's a 3.5mm jack, I can't get any long nose pliers in there and I also tried filing down a set of nail clippers, still no joy. I may need to take it apart to get it out.
I thought of putting some superglue around the broken end, putting it back in and then waiting for it to dry, however, I know my luck, I'll superglue the thing in there...

Hi Philip. Have you managed to fix it?

Paul, no, I still haven't managed it. I keep having to put it down as I'm getting frustrated with it.

Philip
I just had a look at the plugs on my leads and they look like chrome plated aluminium.
I can not tell if they are hollow but the bottom part recesses in to a spring clip so a reasonable amount of force will be required to get it out.
If it is hollow find a screw of the right size and screw it in to the thing.
If not, but the break is relatively square, you could drill a 1.5 or 2 mill hole in it and again fix a screw or use a finger drill.
Finally, are you sure the flash will not fire? I just tested mine and the infrared will trigger the lights regardless whether the sync lead is in or not.
You got to set the remote switch to on.
Because if it fires just use the other one as a trigger.

Re: Sync lead stuck
Theo,
I tried to fire it syncing from the other flash, but they are not mine, and I was in the middle of a shoot, so didn't play around with it other than plugging another sync lead into the other one and watching for a flash.
I will have a look at that tonight, thanks.
I didn't think about IR trigger as my bowens are so old, I forget about IR.
Thanks.

Re: Sync lead stuck
It should be hollow, can you not get a household pin to fit in the hole and try drawing it out that way ?

Re: Sync lead stuck
Dave, thanks for the reply, I've tried a few things, including a screw extractor, but not managed it yet.
I'm not giving up though.
Theo, I see the botton you mean, he's going to try it tomorrow evening.
Thanks again for all suggestions.

Re: Sync lead stuck
Thanks to all who posted. Light is now fixed. My mate managed to get a screw to pull it out.
