Show and tell

Post by danny »

What type of images are being taken by members ,the only ones we see are on competion nights.Do we only take a couple of dousen images JUST for comps.Let's have a night when we can bring in a couple of images and say where or when taken, then display them on the Walls for other to appreciate.no critique just entertainment and fun. Me again Danny.

This was originally one of the ideas for us having an IMAGES Forum on here. To enable members to show off their latest photographs, and to receive feedback if wanted. Sadly, there's only a handful of people who seem to use it.

Danny - why not post some of your latest photos in the IMAGES Forum and start the ball rolling again...?

To a point, this is already happening on the adaps Facebook page. There is now a healthy 68 contributors. Who are posting everyday images. (Not competition work) or work in progress of things they are experimenting with, Question is, Why has it needed to migrate away from the forum..?
I'l let you form your own opinions..
Regards

Stuart....

The answer to why Facebook gets some images is simply that it can be easier to upload to there, without having to resize the images or use a hosting site. Also of course people can be attuned to social networking sites and they are also on Facebook in other guises already.

The answer to this is post where you want to, but announcements and club specific items will stay here.

As Paul said though, use the Images section as that is what it's there for.
Best regards

I tried initiating this kind of evening that Danny suggests in a few guises but with very few takers.

Hi Danny

It is something we could look at trying again. We are having a Critique the Committee night coming up which I hope will persuade other members to want to show us their own images Critiques could be tried again on a Saturday morning if we get enough interest - some members may want to show their images but not be critiqued on a Thursday night.

We will get our heads together and have a think how best to tackle it. :??:

As Paul says, for now, enter images on the forum and Facebook, it may encourage others to do the same.

I'd be up for something like this .. I tbh am a little frustrated as I have been putting a lot of my pics up on to FB recently and linking to the group but hardly any feed back but in a sense I can see that from a web forum\social network .. people can comment or just simply over look the image, I guess on a critique/show and tell night people HAVE to take notice (unless they just dont turn up) but if they are there, yet dont comment direct I know people DO hunt you out at the end and give you a little one on one constructive or praise.

OK then Brian, let's re-roll the ball. I'll show you mine if you show me yours! (Apologies, couldn't resist it). See images - god knows , I need all the help I can get.

Did a shoot yesterday in Southport Botanic Gardens, The Salvation Army Southport Citadel band were giving a free concert, which happens every Sunday (weather permitting) during the summers. Took around 50 stills & 6 video clips for a new AV show. My wife took around 70. I won't bore you with loads of them but the ones I really liked are as follows. Mine used my Panasonic FZ150, my wife's a Nikon D40. (PS just a thought, members may be unwilling to post their pics on here in case it disqualifies them from using them in a comp? :?? )
Regards Eric
PPS sorry it seems I can't load 4 pics at 1 go. Will try again.

There is no rule prohibiting images posted on the Internet from use in ADAPS competitions.

Everyone should feel free to post photographs in the 'Images' forum.

I understand what you are saying Paul but there is still a certain air of mystery and keeping your cards close to your chest untill compertition time ... Not that I am saying dont share but one reason I am pulling back from posting any more Chloe pics on FB is the fact I wanna keep some fresh images, unseen for the contest then maybe I will be in a position of at least one or two "ooos" as opposed to "seen that before on FB" ;)

I'm honestly not "saying" anything, Brian. I was just correcting a comment about competition rules. :D
