Developing film

Post by PhilipHowe »

I've taken up a new hobby, it's called film photography!

I've just got hold of some b/w film and I'm working my way through it. I've looked at getting it processed and scanned, however, I have a Canon 5D that I can build a scanner around, so have now decided to process the film myself.

Does anyone have the equipment lying around the house, that they are no longer using I can purchase from them? I'm looking to do this as cheaply as possible.

I also need a 35mm slide mount.

I will be doing colour photos film as well, but attempting to process as Caffenol - http://skullinit.tumblr.com/

I bumped into this guy last week, got chatting and decided I'd have a go.

Phil,

After passing my 'AS' photography I now have everything you will need to develop your own B&W film (except the changing bag - a bin liner will do though) - measuring jugs, timers, developing tank, chemicals (fresh), film weights, photo thermometer, spirals, etc. Open to offers .

Barry, since meeting you just a few months ago, I'm really feeling like it would be easier all round for me to just move into your house a a lodger. Of course, I'd be interested. I'm busy all weekend, but will try and give you a bell on Tuesday evening.

I looked at the link for caffenol and I notice he is using "industrial strength acetic acid"

Please be careful with that stuff, it's flammable and corrosive.
