Your Favourite Photo of 2012
Are you all up for a challenge...?
What was the ONE favourite photo that you took in 2012?
Maybe it was a candid shot, a holiday snap, a family occasion such as a wedding, or a studio shot or competition winner. Whatever... please post it and let us know why you like it so much.
I'll start with a headshot of professional glamour model Natalia taken at the end of November. I had been wanting to photograph Natalia for a while and am so glad that I finally arranged it. Working with a professional, experienced model helps to make for a very successful shoot. I wanted to try some headshots before moving onto glamour as it's a genre that I'm keen to improve upon. This was my favourite shot from the session. You can see other shots on my website at: http://www.pauljones.org/?p=385
Over to you....... Please join in.

Re: Your Favourite Photo of 2012
Hi Paul
I can see why you have picked this one, she's lovely, those eyes are stunning, I like that the colours are quite muted, pastels, the effect is quite understated but has impact and I think it's because the eyese really draw you in.
One of my favourites from last year was taken at a shoot I did with Phil, this was the first shot I took of Olivia and as it turned out, was my favourite of the day. I liked the colours, bright blue hair, bright red lips and pale, almost white skin, it sort of tied in with the red, white and blue of our national flag and with Britian being in the spotlight this year with the olympics and the Queens jubilee, her colouring sort of fitted in. This picture has also done well in some of the competitions I've entered.
This is a good thread, I hope other people will submit their favourite picture and tell us why.
Best Wishes
Tracey

Wow 2 really classy shots - soon put a stop to that! This is my favourite of 2012 taken on the Wigan Flight. It was a miserable day and I had gone for a stroll - camera with me as always. I was trying to get the basics right, focus, exposure, composition - all of which I have been realy struggling with - composition especially. It was also my first attempt at HDR (not serious as this is from a single shot). It is by no means a great shot, but I liked the effect and it was accepted by Wigan World for their Photo-a-Day.

After arriving at this location almost instantly we were forced to take cover as security were literally walking above our heads. After about 20/30mins we decided to make a move and either get busted or continue with the explore. A bit of ducking and a diving later we rounded a corner and was greeted by this scene. As the area was obviously in use/monitored it was a race to get the equipment out and catch this scene!! The rays are 100% real, no photoshop tomfoolery at all. One of the most awesome things I have seen in a while!

Well, hear is mine. This is a photo of one of my all time music heroes. He was part of a group that was probably the main reason I moved to the North West in the first place. He gave me a full 12 seconds of his time before he went on stage. I managed to take two shots, this being the second.
This is a photo of Peter Hook of Joy Division, New Order, Revenge, The Light; Co-writer of my favourite song ever - Love Will Tear Us Apart.

Good one Philip. I've been a New Order fan since I met Mrs J. One of my favourite Peter Hook songs is 'What Do You Want From Me', recorded under the name 'Monaco'.PhilipHowe wrote: This is a photo of Peter Hook of Joy Division, New Order, Revenge, The Light; Co-writer of my favourite song ever - Love Will Tear Us Apart.

Re: Your Favourite Photo of 2012
Hi Folks,
I haven't been able to do much photography this year but did manage to get to Oulton Park for the British Superbike championships, it absolutely poured down all day and although getting a good soaking managed to get a few reasonable snaps, this shot of Alex Lowes on the Samsung Honda gives some idea of the terrible conditions the riders (and us photographers) had to put up with.
Not necessarily one of my best shots but one of the most memorable,
Regards,
Bert.

Some good photos so far, but I was hoping that this thread would elicit more response.
Let's see your photos!

Re: Your Favourite Photo of 2012
To be honest, I produce a very large number of images and it's hard to think of one that might be a favourite. Like Gerry often says, his favourite is the one he's just made and I can relate to that. However, I'm a big fan of making little projects to keep things moving along and to use in talks and articles, so here's one that was a bit of fun. This was the Pentax W90 waterproof/shockproof camera shooting images du=ring the cold water cycle of our dishwasher:
There should be a disclaimer on this - the camera is waterproof and I used cold water only with no detergent! You try this at your own peril!

I work on the principal that the next one I do, I need to do it differently.Paul Jones wrote:Ditto.John wrote: Gerry often says, his favourite is the one he's just made and I can relate to that...
If the last one is your favourite, then you are learning every time and enjoying it.

Re: Your Favourite Photo of 2012
Not necessarily the best portrait I took, but one I enjoyed taking immensely. This gentleman was just so pleased to be asked, it really made it a pleasure to take.
