New to the club and forum

Hello

Like Michael i attended the club for the first time last Thursday unfortunately i had to leave before the end of the competition judging and didn't get a chance to speak to Paul, just like to ask a question regarding HDR software i'm using Photomatix pro as i'm lead to believe it's probably one of the better choices and to be honest i have had some good results, does anyone recommend any other software packages, i'm using Photoshop CS4 which doesn't really cater for HDR shots as CS5 or above does.

We have several club members who are into HDR, perhaps most notably Keith Richardson and Gerry Gentry. I'm sure that they and others will be happy to help you.

Thanks for the reply, to be honest i'm just dabbling in HDR at the moment and sort of got a taste for it, i'm more into landscape, wildlife and macro, i will make a point of discussing the subject with Keith and Gerry at some point though and thanks for the advice much appreciated.

welcome to the club and forum i don't know anything about hdr but had a quick look online and read the quite a few people recommend photomatix and you can find it at www.hdrsoft.com not sure what you want to pay or you want to buy but amazon have for £71 but its not the latest version just trying to help.

i got the current version that i'm using from hdrsoft at the moment it's a free trial version but it leaves a copywrite on the finished image until you buy the full version, thats ok for the time being as like i said i'm just dabbling with HDR but it seems Photomatix may be the one to go with so it's just about getting the best deal, pretty pricey at hdrsoft, thanks for the tip Re: Amazon i will check that out this week.

There are literally hundreds of HDR programs around. Some expensive some are free. The web will carry reviews on most of them. Each user will have his or her own preferences. I think its fair to say, most of the regular users at the club are using Photomatix 4.2. Me included, though I also use Nik HDR Efex Pro 2 So I would recommend you go with photomatix. At least then you will be able to bounce around your queries with the guys and girls at the meetings. I heard mention on the forum that it was available on offer somewhere for £29.

Dennis, I bought photomatix of ebay for about £24. I had to download the official version from photomatix and was supplied with access codes from the ebay seller. You get the latest version from photomatix.

I'm sure we all felt a bit nervous going to a club for the first time. Take time to get to know people and you'll find some friends with similar interests to yours and you'll be improving your photography in no time. Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions.
