Hi
I think Theo had some excellent suggestions, all of which I would be very interested in doing. Also, Jane-F has summed up my thoughts entirely. As a complete novice, I would welcome any suggestions / constructive feedback you could give me for my poor shots. I promise not to cry...!!!!!
Tracey
PS. How to you get the "Smilie" faces to go on a reply...?

Myra,
your baking scones demo would be much better than any boring talk on photography.
Bert.

Re: Summer Syllabus 2008
Umm i think i would have walked out again, thinking i'd got the wrong place, it was daunting walking in on thursday night as it was,
with out getting confused as to if id found the right place.
now if you where baking potato cakes that would be another matter altogether
(only joking)
Before i forget thank you to everyone who made us feel welcome on thursday night, it did make a difference,
as it was daunting walking in with it being so full ,
we will be back, but have to get work out of the way first.

We could always be photographing these extra goings on. The experience of lighting the set-up would be educational and if it was Myras' we could eat it too.

With the popularity of portraiture, how about a trip to Martin Mere, near Burscough. There are plenty of 'birds' to photograph. They will perform/pose for a few grains of corn. They also have a smart restaurant/coffee shop. web site:-info.martinmere@wwt.org.uk
There is also the R.A.F. museum at Cosford, near Wolverhampton. They have big silver and multi colored birds just waiting to be photographed. All at no cost.

Re: Summer Syllabus 2008
I have talked to the turbary owl and birds of prey sanctuary in Preston.
website: http://www.turbarywoods.co.uk
They could handle a group of photographers (minimum 10)
The program is to fly a number of different birds for about 1.5 hours. (owls, hawks, kites etc.)
There are also aviaries where pictures of the birds could be had.
The cost would be £ 10 per person.
They could either do it over a week-end or late afternoon.
If there was sufficient interest we would give them an initial date but confirm about 1 week prior to the date which would allow us the take a view on the weather.
Regards
Theo

Re: Summer Syllabus 2008
Many thanks for all your ideas. By all means post more if something comes to mind.
I've printed off this thread now and the preparation of the Summer Syllabus is about to start. I'll report back on progress as soon as I can.
