Two To Choose

Post by John »

Here's two images, and a little poll to choose which approach you like best. Even if you don't like the picture itself, the idea is I'm asking do you prefer a creative or a straight approach to photography.

Picture 1 was hand held at 2 seconds:
064 The Wedding Party.jpg
064 The Wedding Party.jpg (329.3 KiB) Viewed 6932 times
Picture 2 was a more conventional 1/40 sec:
065 The Wedding Party 2.jpg
065 The Wedding Party 2.jpg (357.23 KiB) Viewed 6932 times
So, creative or traditional, plus any discussion you might like to add.
Best regards

John

I think both approaches can work, however I also think it comes down to the intended use of the photograph and whether it meets the brief.

If the intention was to add some creativitity to your portfolio then Picture 1 would be the one to choose. If the brief is to capture a record of the occasion, then Picture 2.

Here, I voted for PIcture 2 (though it would have been better if people weren't looking at and waving at the camera).

I agree with Paul's comment about both approaches and the intended use. I want to be able to master the straight approach, but do lean towards the creative and quirky side - need to master this as well!!! However, my main approach at the moment is to enjoy what I am doing - think I have mastered that :]

Hi John

I must be old fashioned, I like the traditional one the best, the other just made my eyes go funny -

I think it depends on what you feel 'creative' means.
I don't think 1 is very creative, just blurred, therefore the creative part doesn't seam very creative.

Take your point on photo No. 1 but I take this as just a 'loose' example. To me. creativity can be taken as far as the imagination will extend (plus the skills of course).

Looking at the Poll Result, we're a traditional bunch, aren't we? :-d
