Thursday 28th November 2013 - Monthly Competition
We welcome Christine Widdall back as our judge for the last Monthly Competition of 2013.
Christine is always very fair and offers a vast amount of photographic expertise.
After this, we just have the "Straight Out of Camera" competition in December and we pick up the monthlies again in January 2014. I think Keith has worked very hard the past few months, so I've no doubt he'll appreciate a few weeks respite from the pressure!

Really enjoyed tonight's comp some great images.
Congrats to the top scorers.
I was very impressed with the judge Christine Widdal's instructional
comments on each image and hopefully I've learned from them.

Shaun

Hi,
Another great visit from one of the best judges around. Christine is always worth being there to see and once again provided some thoughts for all of us to take away from the evening.
Congratulations to our top scorers, and to everyone for providing some outstanding images for her to judge. She was very impressed with the standard of the work she was seeing for just a normal monthly competition, so well done everyone.
The results will be updated in the league tables on the forum shortly.
Could everyone who scored 18 or more please send me digital copies of their images to post onto the forum.
Regards, keith.

Re: Thursday 28th November 2013 - Monthly Competition
Unfortunately, I couldn't make it last night, but I agree, Christine is the only judge that I would turn up just to see her judge. I think she is one of the few judges that remembers what it's like to start the daunting task of entering competitions and realises that although you all have to be marked on the same principles, different people are at different levels.
I remember one of my first competitions where I got a relatively low score, but in her critique, she suggested a way of getting a couple of extra marks (to take me to 16!), not just dismissing it because it wasn't a 19 already.
Small steps.

I agree, Christine is a good judge, in my opinion here’s why:Paul Jones wrote:Agreed. I always enjoy Christine's judging. Positive and encouraging.keith richardson wrote: Another great visit from one of the best judges around.
There were some very good images tonight.
1. She offers good constructive criticism in a non-patronising way (without causing any offence either).
2. She has what a lot of judges don’t have, a personality!
3. She is not overly indecisive (unlike some other judges)
3. And she is entertaining.
4. Finally she isn’t biased (unlike some, cough, wigan

Nobody’s perfect, but still way better than some recent judges (in my opinion)
Andy.
