The first of our critique nights, intended for those who want to move into salons and international exhibitions. Open to all who want to participate, so please bring prints and/or digital images as this is an interactive workshop!

This one is something new, and it's only a few days away! I'm looking forward to seeing how it works out.

Who will be critiquing the images?

Each other. It's intended to be an interactive sharing of opinions, with no one person doing all the critique.

It will be interesting to see how it works.

John, I wonder if any of the members who have obtained accreditation from entering international salons would share their portfolio used to obtain them? I'm not a fan of AV's at all to display photography, however, I think this would help me understand what level the portfolio, not just individual photos, is at to achieve these.

I won't mention any names, obviously, as I wouldn't want members to feel I was picking on them!

I think that's something we should look at Phil, it seems a good idea to me.

I was going to bring:

1) Books and CD's I acquired showing a selection of images that had been accepted for particular salons - to give people a feel for the type of images that do well
2) Examples of some of my images that did well in those salons
3) New work I was thinking of entering and which I would like everyone to critique

See you on Tuesday.

There's good potential in this idea, the first one seemed to work well with enough people there to make it worthwhile. Many thanks to Gerry for putting the concept into practice.

Tracey, I'd still like to look at those catalogues, we never got round to that.

Hi, just wanted to say I attended the critique night this Tuesday gone, it was the first one, I really enjoyed it, there wasn't many members there, however we looked at pictures, discussed how they could be improved, we were told what judges are looking for, it was brilliant, thoroughly informative, can't wait for the next one.

Thank you.
