This is our open night Alasdair, when we welcome anyone in who wants to see what we do.

Cameras are always allowed at ADAPS!
Best regards

Everyone seems to have missed the point. It was meant to be an 'OPEN NIGHT' not a 'Free photography night'. That means fees were not required for that night. Consequently, only two visitors attended and one of those was a past member who wanted to see how the club was fairing. Every one of the previous posts refers to the free food. As an open night it was a wash out.

Why do you say that Roy? Advertisements went up in the local paper, posters were distributed. Paul asked ALL members if they could put posters up in local post offices, supermarkets etc. How many did you put up?

Apart from dragging people in off the streets, I'm not sure what else we could have done.

Sorry Roy - but this doesn't sound much like:

If those two visitors either join the club or go away with a positive experience and tell other people about ADAPS, then the night will have achieved one of it's aims. The other being to demonstrate to the powers that be that ADAPS is open to the whole community.

One can only open ones doors and promote an event. One can never predict how many people will attend. In previous years we have attracted lots of new members. This time was not as successful.

However, don't forget that we see new visitors at ADAPS on a regular basis and one can only hope that ALL members go out of their way to make anyone who walks through our door for the first time feel welcome.

A club full of positive, friendly and helpful members will attract like-minded people.

I am just re-reading Dale Carnegie's classic book "How to Win Friends and Influence People". It's an amazing book. Seriously Roy, if you haven't read it you should. It has given me a whole new outlook on life.
