FORUM COMPETITION#151 - TRANSPORT

Post by mikeaspinall »

O.K.

We all have to get around, so a simple subject from a simple mind (mine). Please let me have
your images of any means of transport and let's say that midnight on Sunday 9th August is the last post.

Hi everybody

Time to look at all of your entries for this competition and have my say so here goes:-

ALISDAIR
We have all has this view of the train approaching. A pity the guy was standing in front of you (they do) and I would have liked to
see more of the train. Nice shot however.

JANICE
Haven't seen one of these in a long time and wouldn't want to try one out nowadays. Nice sharp image, clean lines but I want to see
the colour of the flowers at the back. Maybe this time monochrome doesn't suit.

ANDY
No wonder that you are a 'wizard' photographer when you can get the Hogwarts Express on your pics - Hogwarts/Harry Potter get it?
Seriously, as usual a super picture and I want to know where you took it. Mono or colour? - not sure.

JOHN JM
Now this is certainly different and makes me think about how you took it. The red and yellow streaks suggest head and tail lights from other
cars would normally suggest a slow shutter speed but the car looks as if it's moving. Not 100% sharp but who cares? I like it.

BIG JOHN
I like the way you have zoomed in on the cockpit of the plane. You can see the movement of the propellers and the pilots clearly.
Good shot.

GORDON
What warmth and colours come across in this image. You have caught the light perfectly and no real 'burning out' on the boat/ship.
Very nice texture in the metal plates and a great sky too. Well done.

TRACEY
Have seen this picture before and if I'm not mistaken it's from an 'Ironman' competition. Cracking picture, perfect in mono. Cyclist is
on the move with space in front to move into. It's great.

DAVE
Wonder where this plane was going as we don't fly anymore. Caught very nicely in lift off and the background is helping the plane to stand out
against it. Nice one my friend

MEL
Great car and very colourful. The detail is all there as it's as sharp as a tack. The only pity is the car behind which just takes
the eye away from the main subject. It always seems to happen that way. Still a very nice picture.

BAZZA
Nice to see one of your pictures in the competition Mate. I would have expected one of your 'chuffer trains' but this is very
different. It's got nice light, nice background and my eye is taken to the man and boy on the left. Perhaps a little more contrast
needed for my taste but a good try my friend.

SO -- who won?

3rd place to Andy - love the metal monster with all the steam and smoke.

2nd place to Tracey - as always a super picture, perfectly composed and well caught.

Winner is John JM - this is just so different from all the others and makes me look at again and again. The feeling of movement with
the streaky lines gives it an ethereal feel to me so well done.

Over to you Sir.
