Rivington Walk 26th June

Post by John »

For anyone who wasn't at the club on Thursday a reminder that we have a split event.

For those who fancy a photographic walk we meet at 7.30pm at the High Barn and then go walkies...

For those who feel less energetic the clubrooms will be open as usual for an informal evening of coffee/tea and chat.

If it rains, well if it's too bad then the clubrooms it is.
Best regards

Apparently there is some sort of event going on at the Higher barn, and stretch limos may be clogging up the car park.

We can still meet in the area, but perhaps parking further down on the approach road would be a good idea. We can then walk up to the barn area before passing behind it and then onwards up the hill.

There's always a hill....

Well Riley Family Walks have always had some interesting quirks. Firstly, whenever we arrive at a choice "Do we go up or down?" the answer always seems to be "Up" and whenever we do a circular walk it's always uphill on the way out and then, quite remarkable really, uphill on the way back. I'm not quite sure how we manage that one.

It won't be that bad at Rivington. Really, it won't..... ;-]

John,
It's possible that the owners of the higher barn, knowing that A.D.A.P.S had arranged to meet at the barn are expecting us to arrive in STRETCH LIMOS
Bert.

Hi,

Sorry I wont be able to make it, but I'm sure you are aware that the bottom barn, by the main road is open till 9pm for tea/coffee cakes etc, but a bit pricier than the club! Then walk out by the reservoir for a nice sunset around 9.20pm. (sunset is 9.44pm tonight, but you'll need to be earlier because of the hill on the other side of the reservoir)

It's grey and wet in the east of Manchester, my bag is packed and I'm waiting to get changed at work ... what's it like in Bolton, more specifically - Rivington? Regards

A last minute change! As I write the rain is pouring down, so even if it stops later then Rivington will be awash with water and mud. Not a good idea, but anyone who braves it can let us know how they do!

So, the clubrooms it is. The short-notice plan is to review a couple of photographers' images of our very nice day out at Haddon Hall on Sunday. Myself, Sue, Des and Myra at least will bring some images and we can see how different photographers interpret the same location. We can also then process a couple of shots to see how the original capture can be improved and brought to life.

If anyone else who was there picks this up in time you are welcome to bring along a CD of images as well.

See you all later tonight! :D
Best regards

Should have posted this link last night, but this will tell you the weather for Winter Hill .Pan down the page and click on one of the local weather stations i.e North Turton and to say you'll get a comprehensive weather report is an understatement. It updates every 5 mins. Currently at 17.58hrs - 0.16" rain/hr!
