Re: Forum Competition #193: Street Photorgaphy
Thanks for all the entries, here goes picking the best from them.
Graham, as you said, not actually a street but candid none the less. A good clear reflected image that has caught people enjoying quality time together. I like the way you have captured this, taking the picture from a good view point and keeping the main area of interest well exposed with the rest of the image blending in.
BydoR9 – Fountainhead. It must have been a warm day when you took this one otherwise the young child would be a tad cold. The selected shutter has captured the water droplets very nicely and has shown just how much water there is. The Silhouette of the child is a little drowned out (no pun intended) by the water but a well seen photo none the less.
Janice – Phone a friend. Nice trainers, a fag in the hand and a phone, what more could a girl want! A well captured image that is pin sharp where needed and fades away to keep your focus on the main subject. The monochrome finish works very well and the image portrays urban life and the life of modern day street kids. Where would they be without a phone these days?
Stu B – Chippy Tea. A happy family tucking into a good portion of chips. Nice and clear, well balanced and exposed well and for a change they are talking to each other rather than being engrossed in a phone.
JoJo – The Watchers. A well timed image, capturing the guy on his phone with the stern looking woman giving a stare of disapproval at what he is doing. It is as if the guy is an alien as a number of the people are giving him “the look”
John – Mighty Cheeks, A good clear image of the lone piper blowing his lungs out, I can almost hear the pipes blasting out Scotland the Brave. A very well exposed image that has captured the detail on his pipes.
Mike – The Ignored Pooch. The woman is so engrossed in her phone that had it not been for the pooch keeping guard, anyone could pick up her bag and she would probably not even notice. A good example of street photography.
Gordon – Indian Market. A colourful image of a market showing people going about their everyday business. This is a nice, clear and well-focused image that almost puts you in the scene.
After much consideration, the results are
3rd Graham, I like the way you have captured this
2nd JoJ, well seen and perfect timing
1st Janice, a great image of the modern day child.
Janice, over to you
