Just placed an order with dscolourlabs and was dissappointed to find I couldn't mix paper types in the same order. I was ordering gloss finish prints and just wanted to order 1 each of the lustre and pearl finishes to see what they were like. I dont really want to pay full postage on both for just one print to see what the finish is like.
Anyway getting to the point, has anyone had prints done on the lustre or pearl paper? If so, I was jsut wondering what the finish is like, if it can be put into words.

I have not used these guys before so I can not help you with the lustre question.
However I looked at their rates and they are very competitive. It will be interesting to compare the quality of their print to ProAm.
Are you planning to put some of their prints in the comp? If the quality is OK you should ask Paul to add their website to the links page.

Re: DScolourlabs
Andy,
Cant help you with the lustre but I've used them on a few occasions, this week I used their online upload as opposed to the software download- then upload (looking at the website will explain). The online upload for 39 prints 10x8 had postage at £3.99 and the software (Fuji) one was £4.50 for the same?
Anyway sent them after 11pm this monday and I've received them today, which cant be bad. For 40p a print at 10x8 they are very good value.

Re: DScolourlabs
I have used DS once before and was impressed with the quality and turn round time. Its normally 24hrs if they recieve your photos in the morning, however at present they have a warning on the site saying turn round is currently 48hrs due to high demand. For the price they charge I can understand why theres a high demand.
I may have to just bit the bullet and order some prints on the different paper types. If there as good as the gloss prints I will have no complaints.

Re: DScolourlabs
I have found a way to order a mix of Gloss and Lustre paper
, Phil's post got me thinking
.
I, like Phil, used there online ordering system (which is there default method by the way and is also called option 1 on there 'which printing option is best for you page'). The online service is very user friendly, simple and easy to use (imho).
However if you use option 2 which is called 'application version' you can select between the 2 paper finishes. However this method requires a small application to be downloaded and installed
. I had a quick look at this application and to be honest its nowhere near as easy and user friendly as the online ordering system
.
So atleast I could order 1 lustre finish print with my next batch of prints
to see the difference.
