On Sunday we went fairly early to Dunham Massey and photographed the mist, the weak sunlight and eventually the deer as well. Not at all bad. Cold but pleasant and quite atmospheric.
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about other local detinations - places that could be useful to visit withing say 30 minutes travel?
Winter Destinations?
Winter Destinations?

Re: Winter Destinations?
After yesterday's trip to Manchester, I'd say there are lots of photo opportunities in the city centre. I found the mix of old and new architecture very appealing.
There are other National Trust properties nearby - Speke Hall, Lyme Park, etc.
Winter scenes at Rivington, etc?

Some good ideas there Paul, although I tend to feel about Rivington the way Pammie feels about Portmeirion!

Best regards

Southport is now very good now all the folk have gone. Park on the car park next to the pier (pay & display). You can walk along the pier for a coffee and then head back to the shopping centre. Loads of photo opportunities there.

Len
Thanks for the tip on Rufford Old Hall.
We went today and I can tell you that all the stall holders and staff were wearing 21st century period costumes.
I did however get some decent pics of the town cryer and the hog roast buns were very nice.
